Deputy Manager Avionics Workshop
Job description
The Deputy Manager Avionics Workshop will be based in the POA production department where manufacturing and testing of wire looms and avionic kits including manufacturing of structural and composite components are carried out. The Deputy Manager Avionics Workshop will work with the POA Manager to ensure that POA department objectives are set, communicated and met.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily meetings to ensure the POA department clearly understands target/goals and timelines to be met.
- Manage a team of operatives to ensure daily targets of kit/parts production for our customer base. Where necessary, assist production to prepare POA kits for shipping.
- Plan workload and ensure that appropriate materials are planned in a timely manner to meet the delivery requirements.
- Manage production targets in real-time, including costs, output, inventory, safety, WIP, quality, shipments etc.
- As an approved Avionic Engineer, certified staff in POA production department.
- Develop systems and procedures for continuous improvement within the department.
- Ensure the highest Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) standards are met and EHS procedures are in place and adhered to.
- Ensure the highest quality standards are met and quality procedures are in place and adhered to.
- Management of material inventories to ensure successful daily operation. Weekly materials forecasting to ensure job can be completed on time.
- Support Sales in preparing proposals for new and ongoing business.
- Develop system integration strategies, test and certification plans to assure that operational and functional requirements are met.
- Research new technologies and techniques, support the Product Development team with new products, production techniques and components.
- Interface with harness production and integration teams to ensure final harness designs can be produced and installed on schedule in accordance with overall project goals.
Required Experience:
· 5+ years with B1 and B2 experience in a 145 heavy maintenance or workshop facility desired
· Read and understand Mechanical and Electrical installation drawings to develop production drawings and production kit listings.
· Computer literate using Microsoft programs and Auto CAD is desired but not a requirement.
· Able to work with a team of people to progress production and certification.
· Supervisory / people management experience and skills would be advantageous.
· Have a good work attitude and communication skills to fit in with the team.
· Have a good respect for project deadlines and work to achieve the best result for the customer.
